Donations Needed! Players Needed!
“Baseball Gives Back”, of Global Sports Foundation, Inc. and Houston Hardball League are proud to present the first annual Eli Barken Baseball Marathon Charity Event. This is the first baseball marathon event of its kind to be held right here in Houston.
The proceeds of this event will provide financial assistance to a husband and father of two kids, who suffers from ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). ALS is terminal and has no cure. Here is your opportunity to help a family now and play some great baseball in this historical event! All proceeds will go directly to the recipient.
When: Friday July 30th. First pitch of the game is at Midnight Friday, July 30 and ends at High Noon Saturday, July 31…That’s twelve hours of one continuous baseball game! We will start the evening with a Home Run Derby Contest, the singing of National Anthem, followed by the ceremonial first pitch by the recipient or their family.
Teams: Two teams, Team Endurance vs. Team Fortitude. Players will show up prior to Midnight and remain at the field until the game ends. Free substitution at all times.Play is open to anyone who signs up, limited player slots. Requests to play with a friend or relative will be honored as space and parity of teams allows.
Publicity: We will invite the TV stations to cover our marathon event for the local news. This will bring much needed awareness for the ailment of the recipient, as well publicity for the league. We will also submit the story and pictures of the event to MSBL Hardball magazine, a national publication. Who knows, you may be on TV or in our league magazine!
