The Bowling Pin Theory

We want to talk about the bowling pin theory. If you guys didn’t know, there’s the article online about the bowling pin at the Lifestyles Unlimited website. There’s a previous radio show that discusses the bowling pin and the theory behind that.

This weekend I got a huge number of tweets at Twitter and a lot of emails, but one that stood out was the fact that this bowling pin article keeps getting hit over and over again. Then I talked about it on the weekend shows and it struck a nerve with a couple of the callers to where they –

I don’t know how to say it — they weren’t beating themselves up, but they were calling in and going, man, my life has been just that. What I did after the ’87 crash was I just propped myself up. But I was still in the same position after the ’97 crash and after the 2000 crash.

Victory: Send the Tax Man Crying

Protesting your property value is like Joan Rivers’ plastic surgery; it needs to be maintained every year whether it moves up or down.

While you may never save a fortune in any given year with a successful protest, you should always protest your property’s value. With a yearly effort you could end up saving several hundred to several thousand dollars in property taxes over time.

It’s just a hunch, but I’ll bet you could find a more effective use for your money than giving it to a highly inefficient, often misguided institution such as the government.
